A new initiative taking place across five sites worldwide is aiming to Make Better Happen™ for colleagues and stakeholders by focusing on Better Operations
31st August 2022
The AAK Foodservice Better Operations Forum, taking place between the sites of Hull, Runcorn, Hastings in the UK, Dalby in Sweden, and Hillside in the US, will see HSE team members gather in a structured forum that is communicative, collaborative, and allows colleagues to share insights, challenges, and good ideas to Make Better operations Happen.
This virtual forum, to be held quarterly, will also help colleagues to harmonize strategies, equipment, processes, and solutions where possible, leading to more joined-up Better Operations actions across the five sites.
The Better Operations Forum agenda will cover:
- Current activities and challenges
- Successes to date
- Activities in the pipeline
The Better Operations Forum will focus on three key areas of improvement at the sites:
Water Usage:
In Foodservice, it’s likely that around 80% of water usage is used in our products. To reduce waste, we need to review what the source of this water is and focus on improving the remaining percentage. We’re asking questions such as: How can we reduce our water use? Can we purify our own water? What solutions are available to us?
Waste:
We need to ensure circularity of economy across all waste, avoiding landfill where possible. To achieve a lowest possible carbon footprint, we need to focus on the recyclability of our products ( a key focus area within our Better Solutions initiatives).
Safety:
While we have already made strides in improving safety at our Foodservice sites, ensuring the highest levels of safety for our colleagues is a key area of improvement.
The forum will also support reducing the overall carbon footprint of the sites, as well as improving staff wellbeing.
The forum will enable all colleagues to share ideas and foster a collaborative approach when working towards positive outcomes and solutions on our AAK Foodservice Global Journey.
