Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  2. Place the loaf on bread on a white board.

  3. Using a serrated knife cut the loaf in half from the top to the bottom but leaving it attached the to crust at the base by about 3-4 cm.

  4. Continue to slice the loaf from the top crust down to create 8 vertical cuts.

  5. Ensure each cut stops 3-4 cm from the bottom.

  6. Turn the loaf a quarter turn and do the same again – making a further 8 vertical cuts.

  7. Ensure each cut stops 3-4cm from the bottom.

  8. You should now have 16 fingers of bread attached to the bottom crust.

  9. Place the Garlic & Herb Whirl in a bowl.

  10. Gently open up the loaf of bread and using a pastry brush spread the Garlic & Herb Whirl on each of the fingers.

  11. Using some string, loosely tie up the loaf of bread to secure it back in place.

  12. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese on top of the loaf and place it on a baking tray.

  13. Wrap foil around the bottom and outside edges of the loaf leaving the top uncovered. Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes until the bread is warmed throughout and the Garlic & Herb Whirl melted into the fingers, the cheese melted and golden.

  14. Remove from the oven and take off the string from the loaf. Serve in the foil.
