Ingredients

  • 2tbs Original Whirl Butter Alternative
  • 2-3tsp Lion Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • 3 onions thinly sliced
  • 150g gram flour/chickpea flour
  • 2tbs rice flour
  • 1tsp ground cumin
  • 1tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2tsp ground turmeric
  • 4tbs chopped fresh coriander

Method

  1. Place all the dry ingredients together, add the onions and mix well. Leave to stand for at least 30 minutes but for best results 60 minutes.

  2. Now squeeze the onion mix to release water and combine the mixture with the Lion Sweet Chilli Sauce to create a thick batter. If it feels a little dry, add a little more Lion Sweet Chilli Sauce, or if it is wet add a teaspoon of gram flour.

  3. Pre-heat the air fryer to 200°C/400°F for 10 minutes. When heated, brush the basket with Original Whirl Butter Alternative

  4. Place small lumps of batter into the basket, leaving space between each one.

  5. Brush each one with Original Whirl Butter Alternative, then air fry for 20 minutes, flipping half-way through and coating each one with Original Whirl Butter Alternative.

  6. They are ready when the center is no longer wet and they are golden and crisp.

  7. Serve with Lion Vegan Raita from the Lion recipe range.
