Ingredients
  • 2tbs Lion Original Piri Piri Hot Sauce
  • 1tbs Whirl Butter Alternative
  • 1 Diced Onion
  • 2 Crushed Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 Can of Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1tbs Tomato Puree
  • 1tbs Paprika
  • 1tbs Smoked Paprika
  • 1kg Peeled Potatoes cut into small chunks
  • Sea Salt & Black Pepper
Method
  1. Heat the oil in a large sauce pan sauté the onions and garlic to soften but not brown about 3 minutes.

  2. Stir in the Lion Original Piri Piri Hot Sauce, tomatoes, tomato puree, smoked paprika and sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes until thickened slightly and pulpy.

  3. Meanwhile heat the oil in a deep fryer to 160°C (preferably olive oil) and deep fry the potatoes for 5 minutes. Drain and cool slightly.

  4. Turn up the fryer to 180°C and fry for a further 5 minutes until golden and crisp. Place in a deep bowl pour over the hot sauce and serve.
