Prep Germany will now be using PET bottles across its range

As part of our commitment to finding Better Solutions, we’ve switched from Jerribox to PET in our Prep High Performance Oil bottles in Germany.

While this initially increases the amount of plastic in our packaging, there are other sustainable benefits to the move, including the removal of 31 tonnes of unrecyclable black and multi-layered plastic per year, which would otherwise go straight to landfill.

All our PET is 100% recyclable, and the switch also sees a decrease of 7T of cardboard per year, while due to increase in units and litres per pallet we will also send approx. 235 pallets less from the UK to Germany, that’s seven less lorry journeys per year.

The change has been implemented across the full Prep High Performance Oils Germany range – comprising of Prep Multi, Prep Maxi, Prep ZT and Prep Ultra.

Meanwhile, there are many other benefits to using PET, including safe handling, storage and improved hygiene.

In terms of safer handling, supplying 2 x 7.5L bottles rather than 1 x 15L packs splits the weight making it easier to lift ensuring less risk of injury. It also allows for the even distribution of weight and helps you to balance while carrying. Finally, the PET handle allows for safer and more convenient handling as well as a more controlled pour into the fryer.

In terms of improving hygiene, by disposing of the carton there is no risk of it becoming wet/oily or dirty and contaminating the kitchen or fryer, while waste oil can also be poured back into the PET bottles.
